Zimbabwe Gets Behind Bush

Here's a line on some more of that precious freedom we are exporting to the world.

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa - Times are hard and getting harder in Zimbabwe, where people too proud to cry about hunger, joblessness and misrule could soon find it too dangerous to joke about them.

Parliament plans to debate proposals next month to empower the secret police to eavesdrop on mail, e-mail and phones without any court approval.

The government denies any sinister intent, saying it is putting its anti-terrorism legislation in line with international practice.

International practice? Yes, Bush always denies any sinister intent too.

Don't they mean U.S. practice? More big brother, less freedom as American electronic eavesdropping becomes the international standard!

Robert Mugabe is a sociopath much like George Bush. This is not surprising.

It's like Bush is running the School of the Americas, dictator's version. On the bright side, something in the foreign policy is being adopted by others.

I wonder, will Rush now include Mugabe as a partner in the global war on terrorism?

Oh, yes, I'm sure we will even give them more foreign aid!
They can suveille the terrorists in Zimbabwe that WE need to keep an eye on!
Now, if we could just get every coutry on the 24/7 phone plan, we could have our eyes watching the entire world.

I guess I was wrong. Other leaders do listen to GW, he is a leader, and respected for his keen insights on how to govern a people.

Glenda--
Sorry to contact you this way, but I have two problems. I "downloaded" my post to The Peace Train, but I don't know if that was what I was supposed to do or there's some other process...? And then, afterward, I realized that the second sentence doesn't make any sense because I added two more things to the list, so it's changed on my blog, but not at The Peace Train. Waaaaah!

Pretty soon, they can have democracy just like Iraq. I haven't had time to put the post you requested on Peace Train - just in and out from the curtain project. Sorry. Stay cool!

Anti-terror legislation is always popular in terrorist states.

Mugabe is just returning the favor. Bush has been borrowing from him, here and there, over the last six years and it is only right that some of Bush's great ideas get spread around.
To further Earl's point we have the School of Americas and it has been very successful in teaching the proper way to rule to thousands. The 'extreme prejudice" course has been especially popular. It is only sensible to take a winning concept to the next level. You can't say Bush learned nothing in all those years of failing.

It's frightening to think Bush has become the standard bearer for the world. Yikes!

What is it with us humans that makes us so crazy if we wield power too long? This is propably the reason why most democracies have time limits for their presidents. Then again, when democracy starts dissolve itself, one of the first acts is to make precidency for a life-time.

Poor people of Zimbabwe are paying a heavy price, and there seems to be nothing that they can do about it. Consider yourselves lucky, despite all the negatives under the present admin., that you can do something about it. PLEASE DO IT!

But, the people are a threat to the State, aren't they. Without people, the State would operate very nicely, thank you.
