I live on a high rocky mountain and nothing grows here really except for boulders. If you fell off my bedroom balcony you would fall more about five stories to your rocky death. The balcony is the only place I can have flowers... which is sad.

Absolutely love these...

My lillies, irises, cherry trees, and mint are giving me the same pleasure right now that these must be giving you.

Kathleen, Isn't it great sounds trite...but isn't it great?
Gardening is so peaceful and a quiet way to think.

I live in Maine. We're growing weed upstairs, and that's about it. It warms up around July 4th around here :-)

Gee, nice.

Anyway- yes, I have been a gardener much of my life and will be glad to relocate to a simpler type of home. I am trying my damnedest to simplify and return my mind to things that are important to me. I lost a lot of direction these past few years, and somehow ended up becoming what I did not want to be- consumed with things. Always damned things.

Little of it soothes in times like these and I am interested in becoming less dependent on complicated things.

Our behavior is already our undoing. I want to do more with my choices. If that makes sense.

I totally get what you are saying and have been there many times, which is why my resume reads like a patchork quilt. When my kids were small, I stayed home so they would not have to go into daycare and be raised by strangers. This is not always a choice for others, for some it is, but that was my choice.

I started a home business doing jewelry design and figured out how to make a good living at the same time. I had about 10 employees, mostly moms who wanted to work while their kids were in school, to do the handwork, paid them $12 an hour (this was in the 80s) and still made a good profit. When school was out, they got to go pick up their kids too. We did wholesale to exclusive art gallery shops and high end boutiques through a rep at Market.
So, you moving, lily?

Lovely plants, Glenda! And if Texas starts drying up even further and blowing away, y'all can come up here to Seattle. We have too many rightwingers in our state, so we'd love to have some more liberals move in!
And you could see some of our giant trees up close.

My niece is in Seattle. She teaches at the Univ. of Washington while attending grad school! I love Seatle, but I need the sunshine and blue skies. There actually is quite a bit of water here in Austin. There are large lakes and the Colorado river runs through the city.
