Tony Snow or Herman Munster?

Tony Snow, named as the new White House press secretary, is no stranger to lying.

An outspoken conservative presenter for Fox News radio and television, he is the first Washington commentator to be appointed to the White House role, proving that the press is not part of the liberal media, as charged by Crush Limbaugh and other conservatives. He is used to lying as the press and will now do an excellent job of lying to the press.

Having worked as chief speech writer for President George W Bush's father when he was president, Mr. Snow can claim to straddle both press and politics. Well, he straddles something, could it be Bush himself?

He replaces Scott McClellan, who announced his resignation under pressure as part of a staff shake-up. With unfortunate apologies to Fred Gynne, who did nothing to merit this slander upon his good looks.

Herman is funny too, and Sno is not.

Well, there is some correlation between Kerry and Snow, inasmuch as they and the Munsters all thought they were just like regular people.

Love the pic, and he does look like a Munster. Fitting for Bush's press secretary, eh? Did you notice the fear in his eyes... I'd almost feel bad for except he already sold out to Faux News.

(I was having problems with my site, too, but now it seems to be working OK. Thanks for pointing it out, though.)

Glenda, yours was slow to load but after, ok. Sometimes it is the fault of the site where images are hosted, like photobucket or picasa. You have to wait for their server to send the images.

Please do not insult the Musters that way! What did they do to deserve the comparison!!!!

What browser do you use, Lily, Firefox or Safari?

Heh, heh..."separated at birth." And Snow doesn't even need makeup to look like a monster. Your new blog design looks great.

You asked if I was an historian; no, just an English major with an unwieldy passion for early 18th Century, the age of political satire. (Satire was my specialty.)

Mrs. Dingley wrote the Thomas Paine comment. I found myself thinking about the correlation between bloggers and pampleteers. Jonathan Swift immediately came to mind. Here are some links.

From Bartleby.com: "Swift...composed, in November and December, 1711, two pamphlets in favour of peace: The Conduct of the Allies and of the late Ministry in beginning and carrying on the present war, and Some Remarks on the Barrier Treaty.

From the Gulliver's Travels site: "The purpose [of Conduct was to persuade the nation to a peace; and never had any writer more success. The people, who had been amused with bonfires and triumphal processions and looked with idolatry on the General and his friends, who, as they thought had made England the arbitress of nations, were confounded between shame and rage, when they found that mines had been exhausted, and millions destroyed, to secure the Dutch or aggrandize the emperor, without any advantage to ourselves; that we had been bribing our neighbours to fight their own quarrel; and that amongst our enemies we might number our allies."

I am sorry I could only find this quote and not the full etext of Conduct. The socio-political parallels between then and now are a bit unnerving.

Oh, totally a "separated at birth" situation. Too bad Tony Snow turned out to be such and evil twin.

Off subject to Tony Munster, but I looked at your blog code from afar, and saw two problems.

The link you have for http://roryshock.blogsport.com
doesn't have a leading quote ahead of "http://..."

also the santorium link ends with (2) "//" instead of one.

Don't know if this will fix things but it won't hurt.

I am afraid that most of the press lies now, with economics being the primary driver in reporting the 'news'. I also think ability to lie at a moments notice is one of the qualifications for any press secretary!

Hey, Earl,
How can you see my blog code?

Tabor, I'm afraid you are right. Lying is a thing of pride to put on one's resume for this kind of position.

Glenda, when you view a web site with IE or Firefox, you can click on View Source. Then with the source on the screen, you can do a "Save as" and give it a filename on your computer.

If blooger is anything like Radio, the blogger only sees bits and pieces, and the system throws everything together for you. But viewing the source, you're seeing, what your browser sees.
