Crawford Peace Rally with Cindy Sheehan- Pics

I have written a two-part story of the trip to Crawford. The first past will be posted soon, possibly this afernoon at The Blue Republic, so go on over there and check it out Here are some pictures I took over the weekend at the rally in Crawford, Texas.

Camp Casey

Cindy Sheehan carries the cross of the Bush policy at Crawford, Texas

The Yellow Rose, on the corner of the main highway into Crawford. The Republican ladies stand on the corner sometimes to yell out that, "God Loves You!"and "Honk if you love Bush!" There is a big sign on the front of the store that says "World's Largest Bush Selections" and"Sale!"

Marching along the road in the noon heat.

Bringing water to the marchers on bicycle and a sign painted on a wall at the Peace House

The protesters walked the Staions of the Cross along the road and prayed.

The end of the march at Camp Casey.

glenda, that is a great pictorial record of the weekend, and I look forward to your story. Too bad Dubya decided to stay away and roll Easter eggs instead.

dubya is chicken....and he finds protests so annoying when it is in his own backyard.

Wow, after reading your part 1 on Blue Republic, I can't believe how close I might have been to Crawford. We flew down from Chicago to Austin, and rented a car and drove over to Killeen, when our grandson came back from Iraq. We drove around Killeen, but never saw that hippie house. I think that kind of house painting is called "painted ladies" out in San Francisco. My daughter painted her house in Chicago in a similar way.

We came from cold Chicago, but it was in the 60-70 degree range in the middle of January, so I can imagine how much warmer it would be now.

Oh, dear, Glenda. So sorry for the unintended offense. I will remove the offending depiction upon your say so.

All photos are from Internetweekly.org.

Thanks for dropping by and to all at the Crawford Peace Rally got some good press. Your photos are heartening and applaud you and all the participants for activism and great (-ROAR-) Courage!

Stella,
Hope you know I was just kidding about that remark. Just thought it was a funny tie-in to Oz!!

I guess the problem that I have with the religious conservatives is that it is OK to politicize God but not a pagan ritual such as egg hunting!!

Fundamentalists from all religions operate on an emotional level that distorts scientific reality. Actually, many fundamentalist religions fit the technical definition of a cult.

Glenda...Me too. That's why I posted the "(-ROAR-) Courage!" comment. You know how much I admire all the participants in Crawford over the weekend.

The photos awed me, particularly Cindy's pix gave me chills. She is my hero.

About your fundamentalists quote: I call them "fanatics." Completely agree that many, if not most, fundamentalists fit the definition of a cult.

If I write anymore about fanatics, this will become a long, annoying post. So as not to clutter your blog, I will end here. Best to you all.
