Cake Pony

Is it just me, or does anyone else find this site strange and disturbing?

Although there is nothing on this site overtly sexual, there is implied targeting of children as sexual objects, through sexually posed cartoon pony pictures and language.

I was led to this site through an article in the BBC, which I generally find to be a safe source.

And under freedom of speech, the Supreme Court ruled a few years ago that the portayal of children as objects of sexual desire is legal if done in drawn or computer-generated imagery, since "no children are harmed in the making of such art."

They did not mention the consequences to children when pedophiles go to sites that whet their appetites for more kids to prey upon, and then go out in the real world to find them.

I'm not an expert on these matters, but it looks like a pussilient porn site to me, by people who like food with their sex. Kinda like Kim Basinger being fed strawberries in "9 1/2 weeks". Or maybe the HOT food eating scenes in "Tom Jones".

But baby ponies? Is that code for pussilient pedophile?

Hey, Rose, welcome!
Peter Pan looks like a sweet person, he should meet my wonderful niece, Tnkrbell in Space, who is on my blogroll, (everyone go see her) although they can only be friends, and I have never heard her quote scripture.
Lookig at this pony site made my innocent eyes goggle and made my gag reflex more supple...

What was that commercial a while back...anyone remember? Where they interviewed the kids with their shirts off...some off-screen narrator - and they'd say things like, "yeah, I bet you work out don't you? You look strong..."

At 8:21 PM, Blogger glenda said...

Sorry, Jeremy, I have no idea.

I don't think I could describe this site. Very strange. Creepy.

Very very creepy!!! My take is that the are doing what we call "grooming." Which is, to normalize the connection between sex and kids, pedophiles often groom kids to break down their resistance to their manipulations.

This site is targeting kids I think. The cover entrance says not to come in if you are not 12 months old, which colud be confusing to a kid, who then enters, and gets to meet the "nice" families inside.

By the way, there are a couple of vice cops checking out this sight right now.

Hi everyone, I found your blog while trying to gague the internet's reaction to our new webcomic "cake pony". My name is andrew klein, and I am the co-creator of CP. in fact, we have posted our email address on the site: cakepony@andrewklein.net, and If you'd like to send myself, or lauren wong and email, all you have to do is type away and we'd be glad to respond. May I also foward you to our "about cake pony" section on the site in which we have included an artist statement about the project to clear up confusion.

I thank you for your concern, but I think we are actually on the same side. This site started as an art project that was meant to critique the fetishization of continuously younger and younger girls by making an extreme leap and using a hefty dose of sarcasim. The idea was to use something extremely cute as a metaphor for what it means to be attracted to things such as "the girl next door", and "innocent teens." Like anything else, you take the idea just a bit farther and the level at which you view it becomes alltogether weird and hopefully illustrates the milder cases to be so as well. In fact, the very layout of the site I designed to look like suicidegirls.com, a site that describes itself as only showing "the girl next door, if you lived next door to CBGB". (CBGB being the new york music hall for those unfamiliar).

Personally, you'd be hard pressed to find a more diehard set of feminists than lauren and myself, Lauren, who for years as an artist has been working on displaying images to bring about awarness of feminine body issues, gender relations, and race. I point you to her personal website as well: www.laurenmarikowong.com. We are both practicing artists as well as working professionally in art enviornments in San Francisco, Lauren at the Academy of Art University, and Andrew at the Art Institute of California, where I teach 2 classes in digital animation. We both have graduated from art theory and practice backgrounds at Scripps College in Los Angeles and Carngie Mellon Univ. in Pittsburgh, respectively. That is our background, not porn. (not even the oft misspelled pr0n).

Finally, I thank you all for your concern, and I hope our most reason illustration that was a discussion of the french riots happening this week in Paris points towards our determination to use this webspace as a forum for opening up some political and culture issues through satire and sarcasim, and i will admit, some wierd metaphors. I will be linking this blog on our site as of this evening so that our viewers may read each and everyone of your comments as they are critical to the discussion involved. In the end we are just hoping to have some laughs, and I would greatly enjoy the opportunity to respond personally to any emails or comments you wish to send out way. again, my email is cakepony@andrewklein.net, and you may find my own works (of much less controversial art) at www.andrewklein.net.

-Sincerely,

Andrew Klein of Cakepony.com
